The Benefits Of Studying The Scriptures
Throughout the Holly Scriptures there is a promise of blessing and reward for those who hear and obey the Word of God. Through reading and studying scriptures we can begin to see what those rewards are, and the benefits we can gain through understanding God’s word.
The benefits of studying scriptures are many. As we continue to learn more about God’s word and his will for our lives, we see more and more how God rewards us, and how we can continue to receive his blessings.
The first and foremost benefit we receive by studying scriptures is gaining a more clear understanding of our pathway to salvation. We learn what it means to live a life that is pleasing to God, and how his gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ can free everyone who accepts that gift from the bonds of sin. By knowing and understanding that truth more completely, we are better able to fulfill the Great Commission by sharing that truth with others, and leading them to Christ.
Another benefit of studying scriptures is in its power to transform our lives. As we learn more, we are able to use the wisdom we gain in God’s word in our daily lives. We are able to draw strength to handle difficult situations in a way that is pleasing to him. We are also able to draw on the scriptures for comfort when we are sad and hurting. When we are faced with temptation, we his word can help us to resist wrong and to do what is right.
Through studying scriptures we begin to learn more about Gods character, and we gain a better understanding of who he is. We begin to understand more of Gods faithfulness, and that we can have faith that he will never leave us, and that he is always by our side to give us strength. We also can have faith the he will hear our prayers. Most important, we can know that if we ask, he will forgive us.
The Holy Scriptures are God’s divinely inspired word, sent to us so we will better understand who he is, and how we can spend eternity with him. As we study the scriptures, we gain a better understanding of how God wants us to live our lives. Through that, we receive the benefit of knowing that we can be forgiven, and that God is by our side to hear our prayers, and to help us through difficult times. That is a wonderful benefit.
